Tech Week Taupo, our much-anticipated tech and innovation festival, took our community on an exciting journey filled with valuable insights and learning experiences. From the SEO Workshop to the Amp It Up Pitch Night, and from Innovate Taupo to the Women in Tech event, each event showcased the immense talent, knowledge, and passion within our region.
On Monday, we kicked off Tech Week with the SEO Workshop, led by Dave Roberts from Atatu. Participants learned the fundamental principles of optimizing their websites to improve visibility online. It was a valuable opportunity for business owners to gain essential knowledge on driving traffic to their websites and reaching a wider audience.
Tuesday was a remarkable evening as our Amp It Up cohort took the stage for the Pitch Night event. After eight weeks of dedicated hard work, each participant showcased their business ideas to a panel of judges, with the chance to win a share of the $5,000 prize money. The atmosphere was electric as their passion and creativity shone through, leaving the audience in awe. Congratulations to our winner, Fleur Wolstenholme from Treat NZ
The following day, our headline event, Innovate Taupo brought together tech enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, and those interested in how Tech can help their business. Attendees had the opportunity to learn from industry leaders, network with like-minded individuals, and gain inspiration for their own ventures. Thank you to our speaker, Matt Saunders from The Mattzilla and RAAD, Dave Roberts from Atatu, Steph Kennard from Bonnet, and Ed Stevenson from Present Me. The event highlighted the latest trends and advancements in technology, encouraging innovation and collaboration within our community.
Geothermal Tech Talk, hosted by the NZ Geothermal Association on Thursday, was a must-attend event for geothermal enthusiasts. Industry leaders from Geo40, GNS Science, and MB Century shared their valuable insights and knowledge about cutting-edge geothermal technologies. Attendees gained a deeper understanding of this fascinating field and discovered the potential it holds for future developments.
To conclude the week, Women in Tech: Building Your Digital Brand took centre stage on Friday lunchtime. This event brought together a panel of leading ladies, including Vanya Insull from VJ Cooks, Charlie De Haas from The Connection Co, Paige Nairn from Reach Media and Fleur Wolstenholme from Treat NZ. The panel was hosted by Kat Roberts, and she led questions as the panel shared their experiences and provided actionable advice on building a successful online brand. From social media marketing to website functionality, attendees gained valuable insights to elevate their digital presence and take their businesses to new heights. With some fun networking and new connections made, everyone left with a smile on their faces.
